Information stored on your device

The app stores preferences such as favourites, station order, theme, selected view, playback choices and equalizer settings locally. Recent listening history is retained for up to 14 days. Temporary artwork is limited by age and storage budget, and lyrics timing memory is temporary. Android may also keep ordinary application cache and system playback records.

Internet connections

Live radio requires a direct connection to the selected broadcaster or stream provider. To identify songs, retrieve artwork or find lyrics, the app may send the available song title and artist to services such as MusicBrainz, Cover Art Archive, TheAudioDB and LRCLIB. Those services receive normal connection information, including your IP address, and apply their own privacy terms.

Audio processing

The equalizer, visual spectrum and Local Vocal Lock operate on the device. Radio Universe does not use the microphone for lyric timing and does not upload a recording of the live stream to a Radio Universe server.

Vehicle and external displays

Android’s media system can share song, station and artwork information with a connected vehicle, Android box, Bluetooth device or system display. The receiving platform decides what it shows and may keep its own cache.

No Radio Universe cloud account

Radio Universe has no user account database, advertising identifier profile or Radio Universe analytics backend. Removing the app normally removes its private local data, although Android backups and external system caches are controlled by the device.

Your control

You can clear recent stations and app cache through the app or Android settings. You can also stop playback, revoke notification permission or uninstall the app at any time.

This notice may be updated when the app’s data behaviour changes. The current version will remain available on this page.
